We believe that the Gospel addresses all sinners and offers them forgiveness as the free gift of God in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ died for the sins of all, and no sinner is precluded from the call of the Gospel on the basis of the nature of his or her sins.
The AALC accepts the authority of Holy Scripture, which is God's Word, to define the meaning of being human, male and female (Genesis 1:27, Mark 10:6-9). Holy Scripture clearly teaches that God created sexual intercourse (intercourse between male and female) for the purpose of uniting a man and a woman in the life-long union that we call marriage (Genesis 2:24).
We are aware that in our time an ideology has arisen that employs constructs such as "sexuality," "homosexuality," "gay" and "lesbian" to re-define the meaning of humanity as male and female. We reject such an ideology not merely because it violates reason, but principally because it is contrary to the teaching of God's Holy Word. Furthermore, the Bible is clear that the practice on which the aforementioned terms intend to bestow meaning, namely, the mimicking of sexual intercourse by two persons of the same sex, is sin (Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:18-32), and the wages of all sin is eternal separation from God (Romans 6:23; Isaiah 59:2).
All who have committed such sin but repent of it are no less included in the promise of forgiveness through the Gospel. Therefore, we preach and teach Law (showing the sin and consequences leading to repentence) and Gospel (forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ); however, the Gospel is not a license to continue in sin (Galatians 5:13).
